With a classic mindset and an origin in film photography, I have developed a unique approach to conceptualizing my photography. Using light painting and creative background techniques, I create my images in one continuous shot. The foreground and background are captured simultaneously in a single long exposure, lasting minutes. This is followed by minimal corrections in Lightroom.

Heavily influenced by both Francis Bacon and Egon Schiele, I approach my self portrait photography with a painter’s state of mind. I’ve conceived many new tools, techniques, and methods to produce these images. l invent my light sources, add texture, and manipulate shapes in-camera. This allows me to effectively use the camera as my canvas.

This project is an exploration into expressionistic photography. While I work with intention, these unique techniques can introduce chaos and randomness to my images. As self portraits, the images reflect my emotional and spiritual states. The viewer is urged to decipher meaning and to consider Method.

As we face artificial encroachment into the arts, I strive to make my own marks. I aim to make something not previously seen. My goal is to use my knowledge of photography, art, and light to create images that cannot otherwise exist. while using only basic photography techniques.
